on Wednesday, August 27 at 5:51 am, EDT, the center of the Earth and Mars will be the closest they have been in 60,000 years. Although the 27th marks the closest juncture, the effects of this phenomena are felt psychologically for months in both directions.

MARS - the “God of War”- rules personal initiative, self-assertion, sex, action, what motivates us to take action, courage, anger and yes, war. At this juncture, the entire issue of war is “up” for serious reevaluation.

PERSONALLY: At this historic moment, from an astrological point of view the planet MARS is retrograde in the sign of Pisces... thus we are feeling the urge to seriously reevaluate our VISION of where we want to invest our energy.

Our values are changing. We are becoming more aware of what’s really important to us in terms of life’s values, and what’s personally meaningful to us as individuals.

Once we reacquaint ourselves with what motivates us to take constructive action in our lives, we will be able to go forth with renewed energy, vigor and a sense of purpose/ ethics worth “fighting for”.

Now is the time for reevaluation. When MARS goes direct on 9/27, the times will be suited to taking fresh action and initiating in new directions.

GLOBALLY: MARS rules war, and PISCES rules compassion, unconditional love, and spiritual vision. We have the opportunity to reevaluate how to combine these two seemingly opposing forces.

This is evidenced by the “religious/cause” theme of many wars currently being fought on the planet. This combination is also the force stimulating the surging awareness of the absolute importance of humanitarian efforts - in the form of food, medical supplies and political stabilization of war-torn countries - to help heal people affected by war.

As individuals, we can choose which element we support by direct involvement in areas we feel drawn to and the daily actions we are taking in our own lives.
