Greetings Jan,

Or to whomever: I recently bought your book, "Spiritual Astrology", and noticed that there is nothing in the book about planets in retrograde. I have five major planets in retrograde so I find it hard to understand how that couldn't matter greatly in my life. Could you please explain?

Thank you,
Moon Cat

Hi MoonCat!

Yes! I think Retograde Planets by Sign & House are very significant!

My personal "guess" as to why Jan did not include planets in retrograde in Spiritual Astrology is because... in and of themselves... Retrograde Planets are a HUGE topic that would just make the book - "too big!"

Just a guess. If you want a specific answer as to why she did not, send me a reminder (I work for Jan) of your question by clicking on the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of any page... and I will ask Jan & email you back.

I know Jan is very busy now with several different writing projects... one being for a New Book. But it is not about Retrogrades. So, I'd recommend you read Martin Schulman's "Retrogrades & Reincarnation." - Great reading on the topic!

Hope that helps... Light & Love in your Astrological Pursuits!

...that you could share with us? I have 3 major planets (Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn) AND the moons nodes in retrograde. I haven't yet gained any clear understanding as to what effect Retrograde planets have on me. Thanks.

Hi again BellaDawn!

Want the"short & sweet" definition of Retrogrades that I was taught?

Retro = Re-Live to Re-learn... meaning that in past consciousness (or past lives... whatever...) there was a misunderstanding or mis-use of the energies represented by the Retrograde Planet (by Sign & by House) that your soul is wanting to experience again in order to, well... "get it right" (this time) :)

Pretty general but it "speaks" volumes to me anyway.

Recommend Martin Schulman's book!

I would also add to Aqua that retrograde is also about reflection, as the action of the retrograde planet tends to introvert its energy and examine it a lot more.

I have six retrograde planets (mer, mars, jupiter, saturn, uranus, pluto) so i am all about reliving, relearning, reflecting, reintegrating, redoing, rebeing etc. BASICALLY REINVENTION at its core.

I should probably re-read this. J/K :)
