What do you think a dream about a snake means? Last night I woke up from one where my friends warned me about the snake in my bag, near my car, and I started to get away, but was not fast enough and the snake came after me and bit down hard on my leg, with its fangs. At that point, I woke up, feeling like I still had the snake hanging on my leg and kept hearing....."just be careful".......

and that was that!

Hi Moonlady:

In Native American lore, the snake represents transmutation. According to Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams and David Carson, "there is a need within you to transmute some thought, action, or desire so that wholeness may be achieved. This is heavy magic, but remember, magic is no more than a change in consciousness."

The Snake is a very powerful symbol, and while they are usually the stuff of nightmares, my experience has been that they have a very important message to share about willingness to change yourself--habits, attitudes, outmoded ways of thinking, emotions.

Of course, you may also benefit from sitting down with a journal and doing some free association on what snakes represent to you. In that way you'll get a very individualized interpretation of your dream.

Moonlady,
I think it's interesting when we try to figure out what dreams symbolize to us. Sometimes I think hearing our subconscious is very hard when we're trying so hard to listen. I think dreams are very hard to interpret on our own, and even harder to ask someone else to understand. First, it is very easy to forget all the details in a dream, but we can always remember the feeling that it left us. The interpreter (did I mis-spell that?) can only go by the details that you have given. The thing is, we don't really know why we dream what we dream. Dreams come from the subconscious. Our subconscious stems from our own personal experiences, and how we percieve them. It is impossible for one person to have the same meaning as another, since we all interpret life differently. I think sometimes dreams are just dreams, they are a sign that the mind is still working even when our body sleeps. Some of us gather deeper information while we sleep, and we should never dis-card what our intuition is telling us. But I have found that my outlets for information like that usually come to me from the same path. That is of course just me. But remember that our psychic consciousness wants us to get the messages it is sending. Sort of like Tarot cards. There are a million books to read, and all provide some sort of insight that is unique to the author. Most are very universal though, in that the meaning lies behind the numerologies, and the major arcana, formats etc., but the point is, ultimately the cards, and your very own subconscious, will always speak to you in a language that you understand, and you won't need an interpreter. The advice about the journal is always good though when ever we are unsure about anything. I find in writing our thoughts, we always come to a 'truth,' and truth is what lies beneath all questions. Sleep tight.

For what it's worth Moonlady 1968... I agree with Elisanne.

It does seem that the possibile ways of "interpreting" a dream are myriad... countless... just as vast as the differents ways people see/feel about any one particular thing/issue.

My personal opinion... a good Astrological Consultation might help you bring to words: your thoughts, feelings, just your inner nature... that once you've brought to consciouness (words) some of these deeper parts of your inner wiring (via Astrology) of who you are... the dream will just kind of "come alive" for you (w/o the snakes of course! ... smiles).

Then when the time is right you'll get this kind of "A-Ha" feeling...

You'll just know... because like the saying... "How can one know anothers heart?"

Hope this Helps...
