The Astrological Edge . . . . . August 2017
August 2017 Astrological Edge by Stephanie Shea
This month, we will experience two powerful eclipses that will trigger emotional awareness and a shift in consciousness that will help us to make necessary life changes. We will likely be reminded of work we began back in February when we experienced the first set of eclipses in 2017. On a bigger scale, this month’s eclipses represent life themes and lessons that are part of a 19-year cycle. Think back to August 1998 for clues to your current situation.
Generally, eclipses are a time to initiate change; however, because we will be under the influence of retrograde Mercury all month. (Mercury is in the pre-retrograde shadow period prior to stationing on the 12th.) It would be best to acknowledge what the eclipses are inspiring us to do, but to wait to take any direct action until after the New Moon on September 20.
The Grand Fire Trine between Saturn in Sagittarius, Uranus in Aries, and the North Node in Leo will be tempered a bit, as Uranus will be retrograde most of the month. Saturn, however, will station direct on the 25th, and two days later Mars in Leo will conjoin the North Node. From the 27th through the end of the month, we are likely to feel our passions burn more brightly. The Jupiter-Pluto square will continue, though weakening as the month progresses. During the first part of the month, we can leverage this aspect by keeping our promises to others and ourselves.
Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius Highlights Friends, Freedom, and Future
Lunar Eclipses have the power to illuminate situations in our lives that require our attention. This eclipse can highlight issues with friends or within our community. Humanitarian rights will be a big theme, and we may feel a strong need to exercise our personal freedom.
This Lunar Eclipse may also focus our attention on a long-range goal. We will have the ability to envision our future and gain clarity about the path ahead. It will become easier to see how our lives are interconnected with those of our friends, neighbors, and community. There will be a focus on creating win-win outcomes and considering the greater good. This Lunar Eclipse will be in Aquarius, a sign associated with sudden change. By staying flexible when faced with unexpected circumstances, we will be able to find opportunities for growth during this time frame. We are scheduled to open our minds to new ideas now.
During this eclipse, it will be important to honor our individuality and celebrate our unique traits. Those born August 6 to 8 or February 3 to 5 of any year will feel its effects more acutely than their peers. A Lunar Eclipse is a high-powered Full Moon that will magnify emotions. Take a step back and avoid overreacting, as situations will likely feel more dire than they actually are.
Solar Eclipse in Leo Inspires Us to Follow Our Hearts
Solar Eclipses symbolize new beginnings, as they are high-powered New Moons. Because this month’s Solar Eclipse will occur during a retrograde Mercury cycle, similar to what we said about the Lunar Eclipse, it will be advisable to delay making big decisions or committing to a new plan of action until after the September 20 New Moon, when the shadow phase of this phenomenon has ended. We would be wise to take note of our ideas around the time of its occurrence and to revisit them during the second half of September.
The August 21 Solar Eclipse will stimulate our desire for joy, playfulness, and creativity. It will be a great time to remember those activities we enjoyed as children. The importance of receiving and expressing love will be highlighted, and it will be a wonderful period for celebrations in appreciation of loved ones… Members can read the FULL COLUMN HERE.
