The Astrological Edge for April 2019
Mercury will clear the shadow of its last retrograde cycle on April 17, which will give us the boost we need to take some initial steps towards an exciting new beginning. With this month’s New Moon in Aries on the 5th, it will be the most powerful time of the year to initiate positive new cycles. Both Mercury and Venus will be springing into Aries later this month, adding to the energy of enthusiasm and anticipation. It will be a great month to plant the seeds for our future success and motivate ourselves finally to take steps towards new and/or longstanding goals.
Three of the outer planets will be stationing retrograde this month, offering a reflective energy. This won’t necessarily obstruct progress, but it will hopefully provide an atmosphere of thoughtful change. Jupiter in Sagittarius will station retrograde on April 10, turning our attention to inner growth and the ability to create our own luck. Pluto stations retrograde on the 24th, followed by Saturn on the 29th. These two planets will be within a few degrees of conjunction, encouraging us to transform and restructure outdated systems. During the coming months while these planets are retrograde, there will be an emphasis on taking responsibility for past actions. There will also be more pressure from within existing organizations to deal with issues that might have been covered up.
JUPITER STATIONS RETROGRADE
Jupiter will station retrograde on April 10, initiating a cycle that will last until August 11 of this year. Jupiter is the planet of luck and opportunity, as well as expansion, spirituality, optimism, education, and travel. It is being expressed in the sign it rules, Sagittarius, a sign that echoes the same themes. When direct, Jupiter can help us to . . . . .
SATURN AND PLUTO KEEP UP THE PRESSURE TO FACE REALITY
For much of April, the intense energy created by Saturn and Pluto within a few degrees of each other will be sustained. These planets are both expressing in Capricorn, a no-nonsense sign that is also ruled by Saturn. This will be the last month until October that we’ll feel this near-conjunction while both planets are direct. Pluto will station retrograde on April 24, followed shortly thereafter by Saturn’s retrograde station on April 29.
For all of April, however, we will experience a serious astrological mood that forces us to “get down to business.” If we’ve been in denial about our reality or trying to avoid responsibilities, this conjunction will present life circumstances to help us get back on track. For example, those who have been skating by at work and putting in the bare minimum of effort could face the consequences of their actions and potentially lose their jobs.
